If it's not still here on the first page, this is a link to the post explaining my current situation (wouldn't fit here): http://trackmyhack504.blogspot.com/2013/01/my-current-situation.html?m=0 System info basics are in some of the first few posts I made. And I apoligize, since most of this blog is posted via android I'm guessing there will plenty of typos (thumb typing is slow going).

CD DVD AND BIOS
With AHCI enabled should all disks be reported in BIOS as SATA
MB: P55 FTW 200, BIOS 74. I have 3 drives, all SATA. The BIOS, under Boot Configuration Features\Hard Disk Drives, only PO 1 is listed as SATA, the other 2 are listed as HDD. Is this correct or should they all be listed as SATA? AHCI was no originally enabled when Win7 64bit was installed. I did however follow a guide which was posted in the tutorials section ofthe windows seven forums on how to enable AHCI after OS is installed. After Configuration and reboot Here's what the BIOS is saying: 1. IDE Configuration a. Configure SATA as AHCI b. Hot Plug Disabled c. HD Write Protect Disabled d. IDE Detect Time Out (sec) 5 2. AHCI Configuration a. AHCI BIOS SUPPORT Enabled b. AHCI Port0 [SATA - ENTER - SATA Port 0 [AUTO] all the rest report the same except Port 4 & 5 which are not populated. 3. Boot Configuration Features a. Hard Disk Drives - ENTER - 1st Drive [SATA 2nd drive [HDD 3rd Drive [HDD Drive "C" connected to SATA port 0 (MB,top next to board), D to port 1 on top of 0, E to port 2 (below 0 next to board), CD/DVD to port 3,on top of 2.After doing some reading, I Think I have found the answer. I did a query on "AHCI" and found an article in Wikipedia entitled " Advanced Host Controller Interface". In the References it has a Microsoft article regarding an error message when you change the SATA mode of the boot drive. In this article it discusses the cause and effect and the fix from IDE to AHCI. In the "More Information" portion of the page, it states that this only effects the the boot drive. Now I could be reading this the wrong way but I'm guessing that in the BIOS the only drive affected is C and this is the only drive reported as SATA and the others reported as HDD. If I'm wrong in my thinking, please let me know
Your AHCI driver must have been damaged. You need to repair it.Usually, the problem is resolved by http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976 but this is probably not relevant in this case.
